How to Find UK Scholarships for International Students?

I'm an international student looking at universities in the UK, and I'm really interested in finding some scholarships. Does anyone know where to start or have experience with UK scholarships for international students?

Searching for scholarships can seem overwhelming, especially when you're looking outside your home country. But don't worry, there are several resources and strategies you can utilize to find scholarships for international students in the UK.

Firstly, check the university websites. Universities in the UK often offer scholarships that are available for international students. These are often merit-based and can be extremely competitive, but they are worth considering. Make sure to review the specific eligibility requirements and deadlines for each scholarship.

An example would be The University of Oxford, which offers several scholarships for international students, including the Clarendon Fund, which covers tuition and college fees in full and provides a generous grant for living expenses. Similarly, The University of Cambridge has programs like the Gates Cambridge Scholarships for students from outside the UK.

Secondly, utilize scholarship search platforms. Appily (formerly known as Cappex) is a good starting point as it lets you filter scholarships by different criteria, including your citizenship, degree level, and prospective major.

A third option is to look at organizations in your home country that support students studying abroad. For example, sometimes local businesses, community organizations, or government agencies offer scholarships for students intending to study overseas.

Lastly, consider governmental scholarships, such as the Chevening Scholarships, which are the UK government’s global scholarship program, supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and partner organizations. There's also the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, which offers scholarships to students from commonwealth countries.

Keep in mind that scholarships often require a separate application process, and the deadlines can be much earlier than the university application due dates. So start your scholarship search as early as possible. Good luck in your pursuit of Scholarships!
