Highly Ranked Psychology Programs?

I'm interested in psychology and would love to study it in college. Could anyone suggest some of the top schools for psychology majors? Looking for both big names and hidden gems.

Sure, I can provide some suggestions for excellent psychology programs. Please bear in mind that rankings can vary and choosing a program should also be based on factors such as faculty, research opportunities, and fit with the college as a whole.

Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Pennsylvania all offer stellar psychology programs with exceptional faculty and plenty of opportunities for undergraduate research.

UC Berkeley is renowned for its research in psychology, specifically cognitive psychology and neuroscience. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor is a standout for its behavioral and cognitive neuroscience programs, and it offers a wealth of research opportunities.

UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia are not as renowned as the previous schools, but they both have very strong psychology programs.

For some less obvious choices: the College of William & Mary, despite being a smaller public university, has a very strong psychological department that offers many opportunities for hands-on research. Vanderbilt University may be better known for its Peabody College of Education and Human Development, but it also boasts a strong psychology department.

Lastly, Swarthmore College, though a liberal arts college, offers a robust psychology program that uniquely integrates psychological science and social justice, making it an interesting choice if you're keen on studying from a liberal arts perspective.

Remember to look beyond rankings and consider aspects such as class sizes, the specific courses offered, research opportunities, faculty experts in your particular area of interest, and whether the overall culture and environment of the university resonate with you. Good luck with your search!
