What’s UC Irvine's Campus Like?

I'm planning to visit UC Irvine soon and want a preview of what to expect. How's the climate, facilities, and general feel of the campus for someone considering a major in biology?

UC Irvine's campus is known for its distinctive circular design with Aldrich park right at the center - a beautifully landscaped green space that students frequently cross and use for relaxing and studying outdoors.

In terms of the facilities for biology majors, the campus hosts multiple scientific research centers, including the renowned Ayala School of Biological Sciences. The school's well-equipped laboratories, research centers, and close proximity to a medical school makes it an excellent place for aspiring biologists who will have the opportunity to dive into practical, hands-on research.

As for the climate, Irvine enjoys a Mediterranean-like climate — expect sunny, dry summers and mild, damp winters. The near-constant pleasant weather allows students to take full advantage of academic and recreational activities both on and off-campus.

The general atmosphere is one of collaboration and academic focus. Students are diligent, but there's also a strong sense of community - with many opportunities for involvement through academic clubs, activities, and organizations, particularly related to stem and biological sciences.

UC Irvine is also located in a suburban area with convenient access to restaurants, shopping centers, and outdoor recreational areas for those times you're looking to get off campus. Remember this is just a preview, and the best way to get a feel for the campus is to visit in person!
