Scholarship Opportunities in Indonesia for Students from Abroad?

I'm thinking about studying in Indonesia and am curious about scholarship options for international students. Does anyone have info on the types of scholarships available and the application process? Any advice or experiences would be great!

Indeed, Indonesia does offer several scholarships for international students. One popular offering is the Darmasiswa Scholarship. This program is intended for foreign students from countries that have diplomatic ties with Indonesia and aims to encourage language and cultural understanding between nations. Typically, the program stipulates that applicants are required to enroll in a non-degree Indonesian language course, and then if desired, they can go on to study arts, humanities, or Indonesian culture.

Another significant scholarship is LPDP (Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan) which provides funding for Indonesian as well as international students for a variety of study programs, including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees.

The eligibility requirements vary for each scholarship, but generally, they will consider factors such as academic achievement, language proficiency, and the ability to adapt to new cultures and environments. Deadlines also vary by program, but most application periods are typically early in the year, around January or February.

For the actual application process, it will usually involve filling out an application form, submitting relevant documents such as academic transcripts and letters of recommendation, and often times, passing an interview.

It is, of course, advisable to check the specific requirements and deadlines for each scholarship on the organization's official website, or contact the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in your home country for the most accurate information.

As always, applying early and ensuring you meet all the requirements will increase your chances of success. Good luck with your scholarship search!
