Finding scholarships for international students and non-citizens

I'm an international student, not a citizen, and I'm finding it hard to locate scholarships. Does anyone have tips on where to look for financial aid opportunities for non-citizens?

Hello there! The scholarship search can indeed be more challenging for international students, but there are still resources out there. First, it's important to know that some US colleges offer generous financial aid packages to international students.

University financial aid is more common, but there are also specific scholarships for international students. Here are a few to start your search:

1. David Marchick Scholars Program: This scholarship is for need-based international students who show exemplary academic and extracurricular achievement.

2. Davis United World Scholars Program: This program is for students attending UWC schools. It provides need-based grants for international students at partner colleges.

3. Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund: This scholarship is for women from developing countries who plan to return home after their studies.

4. Institute of International Education: The IIE administers many scholarships and grants for international study.

While Appily is a tool primarily used by domestic students, it does have a feature that allows you to filter scholarships by eligibility requirements, including citizenship status. Additionally, you can find resources and advice on websites like IEFA (International Education Financial Aid) and eduPASS.

Lastly, be sure to reach out to college financial aid offices directly. They may have resources or suggestions unique to their institution. College websites will typically have an international student section with financial aid and scholarship information.

The search may take some time and persistence, but don't be discouraged! There are many resources available if you know where to look. Good luck!
