UMich Letter of Continued Interest Advice?

Hey guys, I was just deferred from UMich and I'm considering sending a letter of continued interest (LOCI). Any advice on what to include or how to structure it to maximize my chances of getting in?

First, I'm sorry to hear about your deferral. Great job keeping your head up, though—sending a LOCI is a great way of reminding the admissions office about your passion for attending UMich! A successful LOCI should:

1. Briefly thank the admissions office for their time and consideration, and express your continued interest in UMich.

2. Update them on any recent academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, awards, or commitments since you submitted your application. If you've had significant achievements or experiences, make sure to emphasize their impact on your personal growth.

3. Reiterate why UMich is your top choice by highlighting specific academic programs, resources, clubs, or any other unique aspects that align with your goals. Make sure your enthusiasm comes across genuinely.

4. Be concise and respectful of the reader's time. Aim for no more than one page.
