International scholarships for Filipino undergraduates: Options available?

I'm a Filipino high school junior looking to study abroad for my undergraduate degree. I'm particularly seeking scholarship opportunities that cater to international students from the Philippines. Does anyone know of specific programs or universities offering such scholarships?

There are indeed scholarships dedicated to international students, including those from the Philippines. A few notable ones are:

1. The Davis United World College Scholars Program caters to students who completed their IB diploma from United World College schools, which are around the world including Diliman, Philippines. The scholarship is applicable to select colleges in the U.S.

2. The East-West Center at the University of Hawaii offers the East-West Center Scholarships and Fellowships for students from the Asia-Pacific region wanting to pursue undergraduate or graduate study.

3. The Freeman-ASIA Program allows U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study in East or Southeast Asia. Though it's often used by US citizens to study abroad, it's also available to citizens of an East or Southeast Asian country studying in the U.S.

4. The ADB-Japan Scholarship Program, also offered by the Asian Development Bank, provides scholarships for citizens of ADB's borrowing members to study subjects related to development at select institutions in the Asia-Pacific region.

Do note that while these scholarships are targeted towards students from countries like the Philippines, they often require a high level of academic achievement or require that you study a specific topic or attend a specific set of colleges.

When researching scholarships at specific universities, I recommend checking each institution's financial aid webpage to see what scholarships they offer for international students. Many universities offer merit scholarships that are accessible to international students based on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, or essays.

As for universities, some schools known to offer generous aid to international students include Yale, Harvard, Princeton, MIT, and Amherst, among others. These schools offer need-based financial aid to international students, and they have strong financial aid budgets.

Also, don't forget to consider Canadian and European institutions that may also have scholarships for international students.

Finally, it's important to remember to be strategic about where you allocate your time and resources. The scholarships I mentioned are very competitive, and while they're definitely worth applying to, be sure to balance your time between scholarship applications and your college applications.
