What's the student population like at UConn?

I'm curious about the size of UConn. How many undergrads are there, and does it feel too crowded or just right? I'm trying to figure out if it'd be a good fit for me.

The University of Connecticut, commonly known as UConn, is a large public university, and the student population indeed reflects that. As of recent years, the undergraduate student population hovers around 19,000 students at the main Storrs campus.

As far as whether it feels too crowded or just right, that can vary depending on personal preference. Some students appreciate the variety and energy that comes with a large university, while others may prefer a smaller, more intimate atmosphere.

One upside of a large student population is the amount of diversity and the variety of opportunities it brings. You can find a wide array of clubs, organizations, and events, and it's likely you'll meet people from many different backgrounds and areas of study.

However, if you're more comfortable in smaller environments, you might find the large size to be a bit overwhelming. Keep in mind that many larger schools like UConn have resources in place to make the environment feel smaller, such as first-year interest groups, residence halls dedicated to specific communities or interests, and an extensive advising program.

Remember, the best way to gauge if a school's size is right for you is by visiting the campus, if possible. That way, you can truly experience the campus' ambiance and see if it matches your vision for your college experience.
