What is the campus vibe like at St. John Fisher?

I'm considering St. John Fisher for college, but I want to get a feel for the campus vibe there. How would you describe the student culture and social scene? Would love any insights or experiences from current students!

St. John Fisher College, located in the Rochester suburb of Pittsford, New York, tends to have a friendly, inclusive, and involved campus vibe. Many students describe it as a tight-knit community where students often know each other or, at least, recognize one another's faces.

The college is a more traditional setting with around 2,700 undergraduates, and it is primarily residential, which helps foster a strong sense of camaraderie among students. Fisher Cardinals, as students are called, are often involved in on-campus activities or organizations. One of the features students particularly laud about the college is the number of ways to get involved. The college offers a wide variety of clubs, organizations, and intramural sports, which have an essential role in defining the social scene at SJFC.

Service is a significant part of Fisher's culture as well. The college has strong ties to its founding congregation, the Basilian Fathers, whose motto is "Teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge." This is often embodied in community service and service-learning projects. The school encourages and provides opportunities for students to give back to the local community, which befits its intimate, service-focused ethos.

While Greek life is available, it is not dominant. The college's location near Rochester also means that students have the option to explore the city in their free time.

It's important to remember that every student's experience can be different based on their interests, major, extracurricular involvement, and social preferences. Additionally, you may wish to visit the campus or connect with current students or alumni to understand the culture better from individuals who experienced it firsthand.
