There are a few public universities in New Jersey that are known for their strong programs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

1. Rutgers University: Rutgers University, being the state university of New Jersey, offers robust STEM programs across its campuses. Especially the School of Engineering and School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers–New Brunswick have a number of STEM majors that are well-regarded nationally.

2. New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT): NJIT is a public research university in Newark known for its engineering programs. It's one of the top schools nationally for engineering and has a particular strength in fields like civil, mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering.

3. The College of New Jersey (TCNJ): While not a research-intensive university like Rutgers or NJIT, TCNJ in Ewing has excellent undergraduate-focused STEM programs. Students often praise the school's small class sizes and student-faculty ratio.

4. Rowan University: Located in Glassboro, Rowan University has been gaining recognition for its engineering and science programs. Particularly, their Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering programs have been rated highly.

When you're considering these schools, be sure to research specific programs that interest you within the STEM field. Remember, college fit is about more than just the strength of academic programs, so consider size, location, extracurricular opportunities, and campus culture as well. Reach out to the admissions offices or schedule campus tours to get a feel for each school's environment and to get your questions answered. Good luck with your search!
