Insights on the majors at University of Richmond?

I've been hearing a lot about the University of Richmond and I'm curious about their academic offerings. What are their most popular majors, and are there unique programs or opportunities I should know about?

The University of Richmond offers a range of academic programs across five schools: Arts & Sciences, Business, Leadership Studies, Law, and Professional & Continuing Studies. As you might expect, popular majors span across a variety of disciplines.

Historically, the most popular majors are Business Administration, followed by Social Sciences, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, and Psychology. A special point of note is Richmond's unique Jepson School of Leadership Studies, which is one of the few programs of its kind in the country. The Leadership Studies major there provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding leadership and developing leadership skills, with classes from anthropology, philosophy, political science, economics, and more.

Additionally, Richmond stands out for its emphasis on student research and study abroad opportunities. The university encourages all students, regardless of major, to engage in research collaboration with faculty, which can ultimately lead to co-authoring papers and presenting at national conferences. Their large offering of study abroad programs, with many providing full academic credit, spans across more than 75 countries and includes semester-long, year-long, and short-term options.

Remember that what makes a major 'unique' or noteworthy can vary greatly based on individual interests and goals. I would recommend looking into each of their departments more closely, maybe reach out to admissions or department heads, to get more specific information on what you are interested in! Whether it's the breadth and depth of a program, the qualifications/interactions with faculty, research opportunities, or the career paths of recent graduates, these can all contribute to what makes a program at a university stand out.
