Which jobs can I get with just a high school diploma?

I'm planning my future career path and might not go to college. I would like to know what kind of jobs are available straight out of high school for someone with only a diploma. Any advice or lists would be super helpful!

Absolutely, a college degree isn't the only path to a fulfilling and rewarding career. There are various types of careers that can be pursued with a high school diploma. Here are some areas you could explore:

1. Construction Industry: Careers in the construction industry such as construction managers, electricians, or plumbers can pay well. These often require on-the-job training, apprenticeships, or vocational training instead of a four-year degree.

2. Emergency Services: Careers in emergency services, such as becoming a police officer, firefighter, or an emergency medical technician (EMT), often only require a high school diploma, though they will need specialized training and certifications (that are often paid for).

3. Sales and Retail: Many roles in sales and retail, like store manager or sales representative positions, often only require a high school diploma. These positions also usually have opportunities for advancement and higher wages as you gain experience.

4. Transportation: Transportation industry jobs like commercial truck driving or transit and intercity bus driving can be lucrative options too. These positions typically require a driver's license and a short training.

5. Skilled Trades: Jobs such as welding, HVAC work, or even becoming a chef fall into these categories. Many trades jobs only require vocational training or an apprenticeship.

6. Administrative Support: Entry-level administrative positions in fields like data entry, customer service, and office administration typically require just a high school diploma.

Remember that while a high school diploma might get you in the door for these jobs, additional training or certifications, good communication and people skills, plus on-the-job experience, could help you advance more quickly. It's always important to display a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
