Best jobs to get straight out of high school?

I'm considering not going to college immediately after graduating high school. What are some of the best jobs I can get right after high school that offer decent pay and growth opportunities?

Starting your career directly after graduating high school can be a great option, especially if traditional higher education isn't on your path. Here are a few examples of well-paying jobs that can offer growth opportunities:

1. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

While you'll need to pass a state exam and earn a certificate to become an LPN, this can be done relatively quickly and doesn't require a traditional 4-year degree. LPNs tend to make a decent wage and there's consistently high demand in the healthcare field.

2. Trade or Technical Careers:

Jobs in electrician, plumbing, or HVAC fields can offer good salary potential and career advancement, especially after finishing an apprenticeship program and gaining experience. These jobs also often offer the chance to become self-employed, opening up the possibility of starting your own business.

3. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT):

This job requires certification, but provides opportunity for advancement and stable income with added benefits. The training required for this job typically takes less than a year and is a perfect fit for those interested in the medical field and community service.

4. Sales Representative:

Jobs in sales structures often provide respectable starting salaries, plus commission. Plus, the experience you gain can help you climb the ladder to higher-level sales and marketing positions.

5. Real Estate Agent:

After passing a licensing test, a real estate agent makes commission-based pay, which means there's a high earning potential. Plus, you can transition into more profitable areas like commercial real estate, property management, or real estate development.

6. Military Service:

Serving in the armed forces is another route that doesn't require a college degree. Military service can provide you with valuable experience, skills, and benefits that can be transferred to civilian careers, in addition to providing financial support for further education if you choose to pursue it later.

Remember that while these jobs may not require a traditional degree, they will still involve training and certification processes. Before settling on a job, research about the job market in your area to see what jobs are in high demand. And as you gain work experience, keep in mind that things like apprenticeships are good ways to gain skills without committing to a full degree program.
