What's a good art job for a high school grad?

I love art and I'm about to finish high school. I'm considering jumping straight into an art-related job. Does anyone have recommendations for creative positions that are entry-level but still fulfilling?

Absolutely! There are a number of entry-level jobs in the art field that might prove fulfilling for somebody right out of high school. Here are a few examples:

1. Gallery Assistant: Works in a private art gallery or public museum, handling various tasks from organizing exhibitions to handling queries from visitors and potential buyers.

2. Art Studio Assistant: Helps professional artists by maintaining the workspace, gathering materials, and potentially contributing to the artistic process.

3. Illustrator's Assistant or Junior Illustrator: Typically works under the supervision of an experienced illustrator. Tasks may include making drafts or concept art for projects.

4. Entry-level Graphic Designer: Encompasses a variety of tasks, ranging from designing logos to creating graphics for social media or advertisements. This could be a great option if you're interested in digital art.

5. Mural Assistant: Helps mural artists with large scale projects. Responsibilities might include preparing surfaces, mixing paints, or filling in defined areas of the design.

6. Art Supply Retail: Working in an art supply store can be creatively fulfilling. You're surrounded by tools of creation every day, and having interaction with other artists could also provide networking opportunities.

Remember to utilize any connections you might have, whether those are teachers, fellow students, or professionals you've met while networking or job shadowing. These connections could be key when looking for a job in a creative field. Try to keep building a portfolio of your work, as this will be invaluable when applying for art jobs.
