What are the best jobs for someone right out of high school?

I’m looking into options after graduating high school and not sure if I want to go to college immediately. What are some good jobs that hire high school grads without requiring a college degree first?

There are numerous well-paying and satisfying jobs that one can consider that don't require a college degree. However, some might require specific training or certification programs. Here are some examples:

1. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT): This job involves responding to 911 calls and providing first-line medical or emergency care. To be an EMT, you need a high school diploma and CPR certification, followed by an EMT basic course that can be completed in less than a year.

2. Police Officer or Firefighter: In many cities, high school graduates can apply to the police or fire academy. Training sessions are generally provided, and physical fitness is crucial.

3. Commercial Driver: Being a delivery driver or a long-haul truck driver can be a fulfilling career. A commercial driver's license is needed, but many companies offer training for these licenses.

4. Skilled Trades: Carpenter, electrician, plumber, HVAC technician. These are high-demand jobs that require specialized training but can provide a good income and long-term job security.

5. Military Service: The military provides job training in a wide array of fields along with other benefits like education subsidies.

6. Real Estate Sales Agent: It requires a real estate license which can be earned after taking state-specific courses and passing a licensing exam.

7. Retail Manager: Starting from entry-level retail jobs and working your way up to management can provide a pretty good salary.

8. Customer Service Representative: Many companies seek high school graduates for customer service roles. Good communication skills are often more important than formal education in this field.

Explore these options and see which of these jobs align with your interests, skills, and long-term goals. Remember that many of these positions offer pathways to advancement, either through on-the-job training or additional certification. It's also not uncommon for individuals to work in these fields while pursuing further education or training part-time.
