Opportunities for high school seniors at Amazon

I'm currently a senior in high school and exploring job options once I graduate. Does Amazon hire high school seniors? I'm interested in part-time or entry-level work that could lead to something more permanent after I graduate.

Amazon offers many opportunities for high school graduates or seniors. From working in local distribution centers to participating in apprenticeship programs, there are various roles you can consider.

One such opportunity is Amazon’s Career Choice program. Basically, this program pre-pays 95% of tuition and fees for certificates and associate degrees in areas of high demand. This benefits hard-working individuals who are looking at in-demand fields such as IT programming or medical lab technologies.

Additionally, Amazon has a program called "Amazon Future Engineer," a comprehensive childhood-to-career program to inspire, educate, and propel children and young adults from underserved and underrepresented communities to pursue careers in computer science. Although this seems more aimed at students who are looking to go to college and major in a computer science-related field, it does offer internships which can give you real-world experience and a foot in the door at Amazon.

For more hands-on, immediate work after high school, roles in Amazon’s warehouses can be a good starting place. They offer jobs in sorting, packing, and shipping customer orders. These roles often don’t require specific experience and offer opportunities for advancement within the company.

Remember, even if it's a part-time or entry-level position, the experience and skills you gain can be useful stepping stones to more career opportunities further down the line. It’s always beneficial to be proactive, to network where you can, and to understand the progression paths available within the company. Explore Amazon's careers page to find more information on the various roles and their requirements.
