What jobs can high school students realistically get during the school year?

Trying to find a part-time job that fits around my school schedule and gives me some spending money or savings. What jobs are common or recommended for high schoolers that aren't tough to manage alongside classes?

Many high school students choose to work part-time jobs in order to gain work experience, learn about responsibility, and save money. Choosing the right job that fits your schedule and further assists in gaining valuable skills for the future, is indeed important. Here are some suggestions:

1. Retail: Stores often hire young people for stocking shelves, customer service, and cashier positions. The hours can be flexible, often with the possibility to work evenings and weekends.

2. Tutoring: If you excel at a particular subject, consider offering tutoring services to younger students or peers. This can often be done on your own schedule, making it easy to fit in tutoring sessions after school or on weekends.

3. Food Service: Fast food restaurants and coffee shops often hire high school students. This type of work can provide good customer service experience, and food and drink establishments often need part-time help, especially during peak times.

4. Babysitting or Pet Sitting: Taking care of children or pets is a classic job for high school students. You can set your own rate and hours, and build relationships with families in your community.

5. Landscaping or Yard Work: Yard work can be a great opportunity for students, especially in the warmer months. Many people need help with lawn care, gardening, or general yard clean-up.

Remember, it’s not just about earning money, this should also be an opportunity to learn about responsibility, working with others, and hopefully, gain some experience in a field you're interested in. When you're applying, don't forget to tailor your applications to highlight any relevant experience and explain why you'd be a good fit for the role.
