What should a job objective look like for a high school student?

I'm working on my first resume and struggling with the job objective section. What should I include here? Are there any examples of strong job objectives for high school students applying to part-time roles?

The job objective is a brief statement that outlines the type of position you're seeking, and ideally, it would align with the specific job you're applying for. As a high school student, you should aim to keep it short, simple, and focused on what you can bring to the table.

An example might be something like this:

"Motivated high school junior seeking a customer service position where I can leverage my interpersonal skills and dedication to improving the customer experience."

This objective shows the type of job you're interested in and highlights some key skills that would be applicable to that role.

You would adjust the objective to match the specific job you're applying for. For example, if you were seeking a tutoring job, it could look like this:

"Detail-oriented high school senior with strong academic record seeking a tutoring position. Excited to help underclassmen succeed academically by sharing my knowledge in math and science."

Note that it may not always be necessary to include a job objective on your resume, particularly if your cover letter or the rest of your resume already makes clear what kind of position you're targeting. In those cases, you might opt to include a summary statement or a highlights section instead to emphasize the skills, experiences, or traits that would make you a strong candidate for the job.
