Best German universities for international student scholarships?

I'm thinking about applying to universities in Germany and would like to know which ones provide scholarships for international students. Are there any particular schools or programs where finaid is more accessible?

Germany is a very accommodating destination for international students, with a wide array of scholarships and financial aid programs. Notably, public universities in Germany do not have tuition fees for undergraduate students, whether they are domestic or international. As for private universities, many do charge tuition fees but may also offer scholarships. Here are some options:

1. DAAD Scholarships: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a popular organization that offers various scholarships for international students, for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Keep in mind that most DAAD scholarships tend to be for postgraduate studies and research.

2. Heinrich Boll Scholarships: These scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students of any subject, and coming from any country. International students who got their school-leaving certificate from a school outside of Germany and who wish to study for a Master’s or PhD degree in Germany are eligible to apply.

3. Deutschland Stipendium: While the Deutschlandstipendium is a national program and might not be specifically geared towards international students, they don't exclude them either. This program sees businesses, foundations, and private individuals sponsoring talented students—both domestic and international—with a stipend of 300 Euros per month.

Regarding specific universities:

1. Technical University of Munich (TUM): TUM offers a need-based scholarship to international students called the TUM Scholarship Fund.

2. Heidelberg University: They have the Amirana Scholarship which supports international students from the fields of medicine, biosciences, and physics.

Remember, scholarships in Germany are very competitive, so the sooner you start looking into these opportunities and others, the better your chances. Also, don't forget to check university websites and contact the admissions office to get detailed and updated information about their scholarship programs.
