How much is an A- worth GPA-wise?

I'm trying to keep track of my GPA and I've gotten a few A- grades. How much is an A- worth when calculating my GPA? Is it a significant difference from an A? Thanks for the help!

Hey there! When calculating your GPA, an A- is typically worth 3.7 points on a 4.0 scale. It's a bit lower than an A, which is usually worth 4.0 points, but not a huge difference. Although it may not seem like a significant difference, though, multiple A- grades can add up and affect your overall GPA, at least if you're shooting for an exceptionally high mark.

It's important to remember that GPA calculation can vary slightly depending on your school's grading system, though, so it's a good idea to check with your school to confirm how they treat A- grades. Also, keep in mind that colleges might recalculate your GPA according to their own standards when reviewing your application. So, while it's useful to track your GPA, focus on doing your best and demonstrating a strong academic performance in your courses.

Keep up the good work and don't worry too much about the small difference between an A and an A-!
