Decent Paying Jobs with a High School Diploma

Besides working in retail or fast food, what are some decent-paying jobs that I can get with just a high school diploma? I'm looking for something stable that can help me support myself without needing a college degree.

There are certainly a wide variety of job options available to individuals with a high school diploma. Here are a few examples:

1. HVAC Technician: This job involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Training is typically completed through an apprentice program, which may take a few months to a couple of years.

2. Electrician: Like HVAC Technicians, Electricians usually get trained through apprenticeships. The work involves installing and repairing electrical systems. These jobs can be quite lucrative, particularly if you gain extensive experience or specialize in a particular area.

3. Commercial Driver: You could consider getting a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and becoming a truck driver. The pay can be quite good, and there's usually strong demand for drivers.

4. Medical Records and Health Information Technician: This role is important in the healthcare sector to manage and organize health information data.

5. Welder: A welder joins metal parts by using heat. There's a range of industries that need skilled welders, from automotive to construction.

6. Plumber: Plumbers install and repair pipes that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. It does require a lot of on-the-job training and can be quite physically demanding, but it can provide a stable income.

Also, consider looking into jobs in sectors that are booming right now, like healthcare (home health aids, pharmacy techs), tech (help desk support), and skilled trades. Most of these positions require some on-the-job training or certification, but they don't require a college degree. As always, make sure to research the specific job requirements and salaries in your local area as they can vary.
