Getting a summer job at Google as a high school student?

I'm interested in working at Google over the summer, but I'm still in high school. Does anyone know if they have programs or positions that high school students can apply for?

Google does indeed offer opportunities for high school students interested in the tech industry. One specific program to consider is "Google Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI)". CSSI is a three-week introduction to computer science for graduating high school seniors with a passion for technology.

Google CSSI is not a job, but more of a mini camp that focuses on product development and computing principles. You'll also build a unique project that you can showcase to future employers.

On the other hand, if you're decidedly looking for a job or internship opportunity, I must inform you that most of Google's internships and jobs are tailored towards college students and grads. Either way, participating in CSSI or similar programs can give you a significant head start for future internships during college.

Do keep in mind that these Google programs are pretty competitive, so I'd recommend doing some preparation work. For CSSI, Google will look for students who are interested in computer science, so some experience (like a computer science related club, event, or an AP Computer Science class) could help your application stand out.

Remember, even if it doesn't work out with Google for this summer, there are many other tech companies and startups out there that offer internship programs for high school students. Continuing to build your skills and gaining any sort of experience in the tech field will benefit you in the long run.
