Listing high school on job applications: Necessary or not?

I've been told different things about whether to list my high school information on job applications. Is it essential, especially if I'm planning to attend college soon, or should I just skip it?

That's a great question. Generally, if you're in high school or a recent high school graduate, it's a good idea to include your high school information on job applications. At this stage, your high school experiences and achievements are probably your most relevant qualifications.

When you list your high school, make sure to include any honors, extracurricular activities, or leadership roles that you held, especially if they are relevant to the job you're applying for. These can showcase your skills and give potential employers a fuller picture of your abilities.

As you gain more experiences, such as completing college courses or holding internships or jobs, you will need to reevaluate the relevance of your high school information. Down the line, as you amass more related work experiences or education, it may make sense to remove your high school information to make room for more relevant content.

It all depends on where you are in your career journey. If you're early in your journey and high school is your most recent educational experience, it's useful. As you gain more experiences, reevaluate accordingly.
