Should I put high school on my job applications?

I'm getting ready to apply for some jobs and wondering if I should include my high school on the job application. Is it standard practice to add education details from high school, or should it be reserved for college information?

The answer to this is largely dependent on where you are in your educational journey. If you've recently graduated from high school and don't have any college experience, then it's appropriate to put your high school information on your job application. Employers generally want to see that you've completed a basic level of education.

On the other hand, if you've completed a degree or have some years of college under your belt, you shouldn't need to include your high school information. Your college education signals a more advanced skill set and knowledge base, which is more pertinent to employers. If you have relevant coursework or project work in college, these can also be highlighted.

However, there could be exceptions to this guideline. For instance, if you went to a well-known or prestigious high school or if you achieved something exceptional in high school (like a national-level award), it might be worth including on your application simply because it could stand out to employers.

Remember that each job is different, so tailor your resume and your application to suit each role you apply for. Like the content of a college application, a job application should be customized to demonstrate that you're the best candidate for that particular role.
