Do any high schools host job fairs?

I'm a junior and interested in finding part-time work, but I'm wondering if my high school might host a job fair. Have any of you attended a high school job fair, and if so, did you find it helpful?

While the format and frequency can vary by school, many high schools indeed host job fairs to connect their students with part-time employment opportunities. These job fairs typically invite local businesses, non-profits, and sometimes larger national or regional companies that are interested in hiring high school students. In some cases, these fairs may also include internship or volunteer opportunities which can be a good way to gain experience in a field you're curious about.

The value of job fairs can be highly individual. Some students report securing job interviews and subsequently part-time jobs from attending such events, while others find them a valuable way to practice their interview and networking skills, even if they don't end up with an immediate job offer. It's definitely suggested to attend prepared—with a resume in hand, and possibly references—and to dress appropriately, as interviews can sometimes take place right on the spot.

Remember, even if your school doesn't host a job fair, your school's guidance counselor or career center could offer resources to help you find part-time work. They may have connections with local employers who have hired students in the past, and they can also assist you in preparing a resume. Lastly, online job search platforms can also be useful tools to explore potential part-time employment in your area.
