What are colleges like in Virginia?

I'm from out of state but have been thinking about applying to schools in Virginia. Are there any colleges that stand out in terms of academics or campus life? I’d love to hear some personal experiences.

Virginia is recognized for its diverse range of respected colleges and universities. In terms of academics, University of Virginia (UVA) ranks among the top public universities in the nation. Known for its well-rounded academic offerings, UVA has especially strong programs in business management, economics, liberal arts, and political science.

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg is another stand-out for its well-regarded programs in engineering, business, and agriculture. It also has a special focus on research and technological innovation.

Apart from these two, William & Mary, a small public research university in Williamsburg, is renowned for its strong programs in law, education, business, and history, to name a few. Known as one of the original 'Public Ivies', William & Mary balances rigorous academics with an engaging campus life, hosting a myriad of student organizations and traditions.

On a different note, Liberty University in Lynchburg is one of the largest Christian universities in the world. Liberty can be a good fit for students who want to integrate faith and learning, and its online programs have strong recognition as well.

Smaller liberal arts colleges, like Washington and Lee and The University of Richmond, also make their mark with their intimate class sizes and tailored academic programs.

In terms of campus life, each university offers diverse student bodies, clubs, and activities. For example, UVA is known for its Greek life and rigorous honor code, whereas Virginia Tech has an enormous following for its Hokie sports teams.
