Exploring colleges in Savannah?

I'm interested in the history and charm of Savannah, and I'm thinking of applying to colleges there. Are there any good options I should look into? I'd like to know about the academic environment and student life.

Absolutely, Savannah does indeed have a unique historical charm and houses some notable educational institutions. Two colleges that I will highlight are the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University.

SCAD is well-known for its programs in arts and design—with reputation in fields like animation, graphic design, and film and television. The college offers more than 40 majors along with 60+ minors, which provides students with a wide range of opportunities to explore their interests. Since SCAD is an art college, the campus has an artistic and creative ambiance, attracting students from all around the world. Meanwhile, student life is pretty vibrant due to a good mix of art festivals, exhibitions, and other student-run events.

The Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University offers great academic variety as part of a public university. They have over 100 degree programs spanning fields from healthcare to business. The Armstrong Campus imbues that southern charm and is nestled among stunning live oaks draped with Spanish moss. It offers a close-knit community atmosphere.

As for student life, Armstrong Campus offers a diverse array of clubs, Greek life, and sports to partake in. Interestingly, it also houses the Massie Heritage Center, which connects students to Savannah's rich architecture and history.

Definitely tour both campuses virtually or in person to get a sense of which would be a better fit for your academic and personal interests. All in all, both offer a strong sense of community tied to the unique culture and history of Savannah. Diligently research and ask current students or alumnis about their experiences to make an informed decision.
