How Can I Get Financial Aid at IVC?

I'm thinking of attending Irvine Valley College but am worried about paying for it. What are the main options for financial aid at IVC, and how should I go about applying?

Irvine Valley College (IVC) provides various financial aid options that can help make your education more affordable. Here's an outline of the options and how you can apply.

1. Grants: This is typically based on need and does not need to be paid back. They are funded by the federal government (like the Federal Pell Grant and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) or the state (CAL Grant).

2. Scholarships: IVC awards multiple local scholarships to its students. You can apply to these through the IVC Scholarship portal accessed through your MySite account.

3. Federal Work-Study (FWS): You can earn this type of aid by working part-time while going to school. Not all students are eligible for FWS, it will depend on your FAFSA results.

4. Loans: These are borrowed funds that need to be repaid with interest. They come in different types such as the Federal Direct Loan and the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan.

To apply for financial aid at IVC, your first step is to fill out FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Be sure to include the FAFSA code for IVC which is 025395. This needs to be done every year you are in school.

In addition, to apply for California State aid such as the California College Promise Grant (CCPG; formerly known as the BOG Fee Waiver) or CAL Grants, California residents should also complete the California Dream Act Application.

Once your FAFSA is processed, the IVC Financial Aid Office will let you know if you're awarded any aid. They will also inform you if any additional documents are required through the MySite portal.

Additionally, be sure to keep an eye on deadlines and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress to remain eligible for aid. Don't hesitate to reach out to the IVC Financial Aid Office with any further questions about the process.
