How does CU Boulder size up in terms of student population?

I'm considering CU Boulder and want to know more about its campus size. How many students are there, and does it feel like a big university or more mid-sized?

The University of Colorado Boulder, often referred to as CU Boulder, is rather large in terms of student population. As of Fall 2024, the university had a total student population of approximately 35,000, with around 30,000 of these students being undergraduates and the rest being graduate students.

The campus is quite expansive and offers a variety of social and academic opportunities, with an abundance of clubs, organizations, sports teams, and academic societies. That said, while it is technically a large university, its size can also be seen as an advantage. It provides you with a multitude of options to choose from, whether you're looking to join clubs based on your diverse interests or seeking specific opportunities related to your major.

Given the size, the student-to-faculty ratio is higher than at a smaller institution, but CU Boulder still places a high emphasis on quality instruction and offers resources to ensure that students feel academically supported.

The feel of the campus can vary based on personal perception - some students may feel it is overwhelmingly large, while others may like the energy and variety a larger student population provides. To get a better sense of how the campus feels, it would be a good idea to participate in a campus tour or a virtual information session if you can't visit in person. This will give you a firsthand look at the campus life and allow you to judge if the size suits you.
