Sure, happy to help you understand more about Bowie State University!

Founded in 1865, Bowie State University (BSU) is the oldest historically black college/university (HBCU) in Maryland, and one of the ten oldest in the country. It offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. As of the most recent data, the university enrolls roughly 6,000 students.

Academically, Bowie State is recognized for a variety of programs. It's particularly known for its College of Business, with popular programs like Business Administration and Management. The University is also recognized for its College of Education which prepares future teachers, administrators, and counselors. If you're interested in the sciences, you will find strong programs in Computer Science and Biology as well.

The class sizes at BSU are moderately small allowing for individual attention. The current student to faculty ratio is about 16:1. This often fosters close relationships between staff and students and promotes a more intimate learning environment.

In terms of student life, there's a lot to do both on and off-campus. There are over 60 student organizations that range from academic and professional clubs to special interest clubs, so there's certainly a space for everyone's interests. Greek life also plays a significant role on campus, with numerous fraternities and sororities active at BSU.

The university also puts a big emphasis on service and community involvement. There are lots of volunteer opportunities and community service programs where students can contribute to the local community and beyond.

In terms of athletics, BSU is a member of the NCAA Division II and competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). The school offers a variety of sports including football, basketball, and track among others.

As for the campus, it's located in a suburban setting and provides a lot of green spaces. Bowie, MD is also less than an hour away from Washington D.C., which provides a lot of opportunities for internships, cultural exploration, and other big-city experiences.

Overall, Bowie State University is a well-regarded HBCU with a strong sense of community and a decent array of academic programs. Of course, it's always a good idea to visit the campus or connect with current students or alumni to get a more personalized perspective.
