Schools for Sociology Majors?

I'm planning to study sociology in college and would love recommendations for schools with strong sociology programs. Any insights on campuses or specific programs would be super helpful!

You have a wide range of schools to consider when looking to major in sociology! Here are some I'd recommend:

1. University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley): UC Berkeley has a prestigious sociology program, known for its rigor and strong faculty. The department is notable for its emphasis on research and has excellent resources.

2. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (UMich): UMich's sociology department is also highly regarded, offering a variety of specializations such as social issues and policy.

3. Harvard University: As you might expect, Harvard offers a robust and rigorous sociology program. The course of study at Harvard connects sociology with a variety of disciplines, providing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach.

4. University of Chicago (UChicago): UChicago's sociology department is well known for its focus on social theory and social research methods.

5. Stanford University: Stanford's sociology program is known for its strong emphasis on research and faculty collaboration.

These schools are all highly selective but offer an outstanding course of study in sociology. However, many other colleges and universities also have strong sociology departments, so I'd recommend investigating further to find a program that matches your specific interests and goals. Keep in mind, balance your list with match and safety schools, in addition to reaching schools like the ones mentioned above. It might also be useful for you to research faculty in each department to see if their research interests align with yours.

Finally, see if you can talk to current students or recent alumni from the programs you're considering to get a better sense of the program from a student's perspective. Good luck!
