What programs does the Fashion Institute of Technology offer?

I'm considering applying to the Fashion Institute of Technology and am curious about the programs they offer. Can anyone share insights on the range of courses or majors available, especially those focusing on design or business aspects of fashion?

Absolutely! The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) offers an impressive range of courses that span both design and business elements of the fashion industry.

In terms of design, you can pursue a variety of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees, such as Fashion Design, Textile & Surface Design, and Accessories Design. The Fashion Design program itself is further broken down into specializations like Sportswear, Knitwear, Children's Wear, Intimate Apparel, and Special Occasion. The Textile/Surface Design program involves a lot of work with fabrics and print design, which can be a real game-changer in the fashion industry due to the growing importance of sustainable and innovative materials.

On the business side, FIT offers Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Fashion Business Management and International Trade & Marketing for the Fashion Industries. The Fashion Business Management program prepares you for various roles in the industry, such as buying, planning, product development, and marketing. The International Trade & Marketing program, on the other hand, offers classes on global marketing strategies, import/export regulations, and market analysis.

FIT also gives students the option of an Associate’s degree where you can study Fashion Business Management, which can be a great stepping stone before diving into a Bachelor's program.

Please note that these are just a selection of what FIT offers. Make sure to check the FIT website or directly contact the admissions office to get the most accurate and complete information regarding their programs. Good luck!
