What's the reputation of UNLV as a school?

I'm looking at universities in Nevada and UNLV came up. Can anyone share if UNLV is considered a good school academically and what it's like living in Las Vegas as a student?

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, commonly known as UNLV, is a public research university that has a reputation for being quite solid in certain fields of study. Particularly, its Hospitality program is consistently rated among the best of its kind in the country. Recently, they've also become known for their program in Business, particularly real estate and entrepreneurship, as well as their offerings in Health Sciences.

Now for the student life in Las Vegas, it can be quite a unique experience! Las Vegas has a vibrant social scene with many events, shows, and concerts taking place in the city year-round. As a student, you'd be in close proximity to the Las Vegas Strip, which is a tourist hotspot with many dining, entertainment, and shopping options. However, the city doesn't only consist of the Strip; there are also other great neighborhoods and quieter suburban areas if you prefer a less bustling lifestyle.

It's also good to note that off-campus housing and the cost of living in Las Vegas could be relatively more affordable compared to other major cities like Los Angeles or San Francisco, which can be a big advantage for students on a tighter budget.

Las Vegas is a city that never sleeps, so if a lively and dynamic city vibe suits you, you'll most likely enjoy your time there. The climate is desert-like, with hot summers and mild winters, so if you favor sunny weather, you'll be in luck.

All in all, UNLV offers a strong academic experience with distinct advantages (like the stellar Hospitality program and the vibrant setting in Las Vegas) that may suit certain students very well. It's primarily about understanding what you want from your college experience and seeing if the offerings at UNLV align with those goals and preferences.
