What are the pros and cons of attending Nightingale College of Nursing?

I'm considering Nightingale College of Nursing for my future studies, but I'm not sure if it's the right fit for me. Could anyone share their experiences or insights about the college, especially regarding its nursing programs and campus life?

Nightingale College provides both flexibility with its blended-distance education programs, and rigor with its accredited nursing programs. Its online pre-licensure nursing programs (LPN and RN programs) can make it less disruptive to your daily life, especially if you have other responsibilities like a job or family to take care of. However, please bear in mind that some aspects of their programs still need to be completed face-to-face especially the clinical practice sessions.

In terms of academics, Nightingale has been known for delivering tightly-knit, competency-based curriculum with focus on the skills and knowledge you'll need in the real-world setting. Some students, who particularly appreciate a structure and systematic approach to studying nursing, have found this beneficial. Conversely, this might not be the best fit if you prefer a more exploratory, broad-based educational experience as the college mainly offers nursing programs.

As for campus life, since Nightingale operates a blended model, traditional campus life might not be as vibrant or as diverse compared to bigger, brick-and-mortar institutions. Peripheral activities may be less as well, like sports, arts, or clubs. However, this might not be a key factor for someone who highly values the flexibility and convenience of online learning.

Lastly, if you're looking for a robust alumni network or established reputation, it's worth mentioning that Nightingale is relatively newer than other more traditional nursing schools. While this doesn't undermine the quality of education, it might mean less name recognition compared to older, more established institutions. However, Nightingale College seems committed to improving and expanding its programs so continuous growth can be expected.

As with any academic decision, it would be beneficial to weigh these considerations against your own preferences and goals for your career in nursing. You could reach out to current students or alumni for more personal experiences.
