What clubs does KU offer?

I'm interested in getting involved in clubs when I get to college. What kind of clubs does KU have? Are there lots of options, and how active are they? I'd love to know more about what I can get into on campus!

The University of Kansas (KU) boasts a wide range of student clubs and organizations, spanning various interests, academic disciplines, and community service activities. Over 600 student organizations exist on campus, giving you a multitude of options to get involved and explore your passions.

Here are some examples of what you might find at KU:

- Academic and Professional Clubs: These clubs can be connected to different academic disciplines such as pre-law, engineering, medicine, and business. They typically offer networking opportunities and skill-building workshops. The School of Business alone has 20+ organizations!

- Cultural and Identity Clubs: KU has an array of organizations focused on cultural awareness and identity, like the Black Student Union, the Latinx Student Union, the Queers & Allies Club, and several others, serving as avenues for diverse students to connect and foster cultural exchange.

- Service and Advocacy Organizations: Groups such as Habitat for Humanity or the KU Chapter of Meals on Wheels offer avenues to give back to the community.

- Recreational and Interest-Based Clubs: This is a vast category comprising clubs focused on hobbies or interests like dance, hiking, chess, anime, film, photography, etc.

These clubs are fairly active, with most hosting regular meetings and organizing various events, workshops, and activities throughout the academic year.

Remember, getting involved in clubs can help you form connections, develop valuable skills, and possibly even find a "spike" interest. Plus, colleges like to see meaningful involvement in extracurricular activities. So, once you get to KU, take your time to explore different club options during the club fair or browse through the KU involvement center’s website. You might find clubs that not only align with your current interests but also expose you to new activities you haven't considered before.
