Exploring Majors at Lafayette College

I'm planning to apply to Lafayette College but I'm unsure about the range of majors they offer. Could someone share insights on popular or unique programs available there?

Absolutely, I'd be glad to share some information on the academic programs available at Lafayette College. Lafayette has over 50 majors and minors spanning natural sciences, social sciences, engineering, and the humanities, which allows students a considerable range of choice in their studies.

One particularly strong program at Lafayette is Engineering. Lafayette is one of the few liberal arts colleges that offers an ABET-accredited engineering program with five different Bachelor of Science degrees one could pursue: civil, mechanical, electrical and computer, chemical, and environmental engineering.

In the humanities, Lafayette's International Affairs program is also quite notable. This interdisciplinary major provides students with a broad understanding of international issues, language proficiency, and a deep dive into a specific area or topic of interest through a senior year capstone project.

For those interested in natural sciences, Lafayette's interdisciplinary Neuroscience program is increasingly popular. This program combines psychology, biology, and chemistry to examine the brain and nervous system.

I should also mention the unique Early Assurance Program with Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, providing a pathway to medical school for standout students interested in the health professions.

That said, while these programs are unique or popular, the strengths of a college lie not merely in its program offerings, but also in its faculty, class sizes, resources, and the opportunities for research and internships. Thus, when deciding on a college, it is important to consider the college as a whole, as well as individual departments or programs of study.
