How does Tufts University stand out in terms of academics and campus life?

I've been researching a few universities, and Tufts University caught my interest. Can anyone share what makes it unique in terms of academics or campus life? I'm wondering if it's a good fit for me.

In terms of academics, Tufts University is highly esteemed for its heavy focus on research and interdisciplinary learning. Tufts houses a variety of different schools including undergraduate liberal arts, engineering, and fine arts colleges as well as graduate-level study in fields such as medicine and international policy, which points towards a broad range of academic opportunities and resources. Please do note that the most popular majors include Social Sciences, Engineering, and Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

One unique feature of Tufts' curriculum is the "experimental college” where students explore contemporary topics in unconventional, often discussion-based, classes. Courses can be taught by current undergraduates, local experts, or faculty.

On the campus life front, Tufts has a vibrant and approachable community. Students are often described as "intellectually playful", and the university itself emphasizes active citizenship and public service, which reflects in their campus activities. With over 300 student-led clubs and organizations, there's a lot of opportunities for social interaction and personal growth. They're known for having a strong undergraduate student government, a huge participation in intramural sports, and a vibrant arts scene.

One intense tradition is the "Tufts Canon," a large and old piece of artillery that clubs, groups, or even groups of friends will paint in the middle of the night with messages, announcements, or commemorative designs.

Of course, visiting the campus virtually or in-person (if possible), speaking with current students or alumni, and considering your personal preferences and academic/career goals are also essential steps in determining if Tufts is a good fit for you. Remember, what works for one person might not work for another, and it's always about the best fit for you personally.
