Hey, I'm planning on taking AP Seminar next year and I'm curious about how the exam is structured. Can anyone please share the different sections, their format and weightage in the overall score? Thanks in advance!
Hi there! It's great that you're taking AP Seminar next year. The AP Seminar exam is a bit different from other AP exams as it places a greater emphasis on projects and presentations rather than just a traditional test. The exam consists of two main components: the performance tasks and the end-of-course exam.
First, there are two performance tasks (PT). PT1 is called the Team Project and Presentation, where you work in a group to research a topic, write a team paper, and deliver a presentation. This task contributes 20% of your overall score. Then there's PT2, the Individual Research-based Essay and Presentation, where you research a topic on your own, write an essay, and present your findings. This task makes up 35% of your score.
The end-of-course exam has two sections. Section I, the Analytical Reading and Writing component, consists of three short-answer questions based on provided sources and contributes 30% of the total score. Section II, the Knowledge Application, is an essay question based on provided sources and contributes 15% of your score.
In summary, performance tasks account for 55% of the overall score, while the end-of-course exam contributes the remaining 45%.
