Can anyone recommend good schools of music?

I'm super passionate about music and considering pursuing it as a major. I'm looking into schools with strong music programs. Does anyone have firsthand experience or recommendations on which schools I should check out?

Certainly! It's impressive to hear about your dedication to music. Considering your interest, a few colleges and universities have well-regarded music programs, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

One school that stands out is the Juilliard School, located in New York City. Juilliard is well-known internationally for its music program, largely focusing on classical training and offering instruction in a wide variety of instruments.

The Berklee College of Music in Boston is another standout. Berklee is known for a more contemporary focus, with strengths in areas like jazz, pop, and music production.

The University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music are both highly regarded, offering a wide range of programs, and are known for their performance opportunities.

The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia is known for its selective admission and full-tuition scholarships. It offers degrees in orchestral instruments, piano, organ, guitar, composition, conducting, and opera.

Lastly, the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester offers programs in composition, conducting, performance, music education, and more.

Just remember, the best school for you will depend on your specific interests in music - whether that be a particular instrument, style, or even the type of music industry career you are interested in. Always take into consideration the faculty, the facilities, the size and focus of the department, and even the location and type of opportunities for performance and internships. Schools also vary on whether they require an audition as part of the application process, something to keep in mind when applying.
