Looking for private high schools in San Diego, California

I'm researching private high schools in San Diego, California, and would love to hear any recommendations or experiences from students who attend or have attended these schools. How do they differ in focus, like arts versus STEM?

San Diego, California is home to several top-notch private high schools, all with different academic emphases and school cultures.

Francis Parker School, for example, has a stellar academic focus and strong arts program, while also having a good balance of STEM classes. They focus on providing a comprehensive, well-rounded education, which includes a commitment to character building and community service.

The Bishop's School, another notable destination, is known for rigorous academics with strength in both arts and STEM, but many students remark on the robust STEM offerings. It has a rigorous academic environment and it's known for its small class sizes which allows for personalized attention to students.

La Jolla Country Day School (LJCDS) is also quite renowned. Their academic program is rigorous and with a focus on "whole-child" development. They offer numerous AP classes and encourage students to pursue their passions whether it be in humanities, STEM, or arts.

Meanwhile, Pacific Ridge School tends to foster a strong sense of community and service-based learning in addition to its rigorous curriculum. Pacific Ridge has a unique global education program where all students participate in service learning trips.

These are just a few examples and San Diego has many private high schools. It's important to visit these schools (if possible) and get a personal feel for each one, to see if the teaching style and school culture would be a good fit for you. Each school has different areas of emphasis and strengths, and choosing the right one will depend on your personal preferences and academic/career goals.
