I'm really interested in pursuing electrical engineering in college and want to know which colleges have the best programs in this field. Any insights on where I should apply to?

There are numerous colleges renowned for their Electrical Engineering programs that you might want to consider.

Start with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department is one of the best in the world. Not only does it have top-tier faculty, but it also provides numerous research opportunities and has cutting-edge facilities.

Stanford University is also a great choice. Their Electrical Engineering department focuses on six core areas: hardware/software systems, information systems & sciences, bio-systems, internet of everything, energy/environment, and quantum science & engineering.

Remember that University of California, Berkeley (also known as Cal) has a strong College of Engineering with an Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences (EECS) program renowned for its research output and faculty expertise.

Lastly, also consider California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and University of Illinois--Urbana-Champaign. Both schools have strong Electrical Engineering programs with plenty of research opportunities and experienced faculty members.

An important aspect to also consider while applying, apart from the program and faculty, is the type of environment and location you want to be in for your undergrad years. Take a look at the campuses, the resources available, student life, as well as the surrounding areas!

Finally, it doesn't harm to cast a wider net. So while targeting these top-tier schools, don't forget to apply to a variety of institutions to balance out reach, match, and safety schools. It will maximize your chances of admission somewhere you'll be happy to attend.

Remember, the right fit is going to be a balance of many factors, which include academic rigor and support, financial aid, campus culture, location, and opportunities related to Electrical Engineering such as internships and co-ops.
