Best schools for music programs?

I'm really passionate about music and thinking of pursuing it seriously after high school. Can anyone suggest some great schools of music where I can develop my skills and maybe even major in music?

Absolutely, there are many excellent music programs throughout the country.

1. The Juilliard School is the most prestigious conservatory in the world, located in New York City. While admission is highly competitive, students have the opportunity to take the stage with world-renowned performers and prepare themselves for a career in music.

2. The Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester is another top choice with a range of music study areas, from performance, composition, to music education and jazz studies.

3. Indiana University Jacobs School of Music offers majors in various instruments, voice, composition, conducting, and music education.

4. Berklee College of Music in Boston is more contemporary and particularly known for its programs in music production and technology, film scoring, songwriting, and contemporary writing and production.

5. The Oberlin Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College is one of the nation's oldest continuously operating conservatories, and it is renowned for its focus on chamber music and contemporary music.

6. The University of Southern California’s Thornton School provides various areas of focus like Music Industry, Songwriting, Music Education, and more alongside a collaborative culture and industry insight.

These are just a few examples, but there are many more out there. It's important to look deeper into each program and consider the style of music and area of focus that interests you before deciding on a school. You might also look at who the faculty are and the opportunities for performance offered by each school. Another thing to keep in mind is whether you'd prefer to be in a conservatory setting or if you'd like a liberal arts experience where you can study music within a larger university context.
