Where to study criminology in college?

I'm thinking of majoring in criminology because I find crime and justice fascinating. Does anyone know which colleges have excellent criminology programs, especially on the East Coast?

When considering programs in criminology, one of the first names that comes to mind is the University of Maryland, College Park. Their Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice is often highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report. They offer a variety of courses, allowing students to delve into specific areas of interest within the field.

In addition, the University of Pennsylvania also boasts an exceptional criminology program through its Department of Criminology. They have a unique approach to the field by focusing on both practical components like law enforcement and understanding messages conveyed about crime and justice through media and society.

Florida State University is another fantastic institution for criminology, which isn't on the east coast, but is worth mentioning considering its College of Criminology & Criminal Justice is nationally renowned for its research and faculty.

Lastly, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, part of the City University of New York system, is one of the country's most selective public liberal arts colleges, with a focus on justice issues, especially criminal justice.

Of course, these are just a few examples. Check out these programs and look into what courses, experiential learning opportunities, and faculty expertise each has to offer. Each program has its own unique strengths and areas of focus, so find one that aligns best with your interests and career goals within the field of criminology.
