What schools should I consider in New York?

New York has always been a dream for me. I'm looking for suggestions on schools I should consider applying to in New York City or the state in general.

Exploring schools in New York is an exciting process, due to the diversity and wealth of opportunities the state and city afford. It's worth considering a range of institutions given the different focus and strengths they each present.

If you're interested in technology, engineering, and applied sciences, you might consider the Rochester Institute of Technology or the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, both acclaimed for such fields.

Alternatively, for liberal arts, some noteworthy schools include Bard College, Vassar College, and Colgate University. These liberal arts colleges offer smaller, more intimate class sizes and often an interdisciplinary approach.

For a hybrid of those, University of Rochester offers strong programs in natural sciences, music, and business.

If you are looking for a larger university experience, Syracuse University has a wide range of strong programs across many fields including communications and business.

Finally, in New York City itself, there are a multitude of options. In addition to the Ivy League presence of Columbia University, there is also New York University, which offers a very urban campus integrated into the city's fabric, as well as Fordham University if you wish to study in a more traditional campus within the city.

The City University of New York (CUNY) system offers numerous institutions throughout the city, while the New York Institute of Technology or Pace University might be of interest if you're focused on specific career trajectories.
