I'm curious about what makes Tufts University a unique choice compared to other schools. Are there specific programs, traditions, or aspects of student life that stand out? Would love to hear why you think Tufts is special.
Sure, there are quite a few things that make Tufts University unique compared to other schools. Tufts has a strong focus on active citizenship and public service. This is evident in programs such as the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, which provides students with the opportunity to engage in impactful community service and promotes the importance of civic participation.
In terms of unique programs, Tufts is known for its Interdisciplinary Studies major, where students can create their own major tailored to their specific interests. They're also strong in international relations, environmental policy, and their combined degree program in liberal arts, engineering, and fine arts with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts.
One key tradition at Tufts is the "Elephant Walk," which takes place at the end of fall semester, where seniors walk around campus one last time before graduation.
In addition, Tufts is known for its active campus life. The school hosts more than 300 clubs, fitting for a diverse array of interests. Notably, they have the Tufts Beelzebubs, an internationally recognized a cappella group, as well as their quirky “Experimental College” where students, faculty, and community experts can teach courses on unique and compelling topics—an uncommon offering that's quite interesting!
Furthermore, they're part of the NESCAC athletic conference and field Division III varsity sports teams, and upon acceptance, they send out a cute little Jumbo elephant with their acceptance letters.
Each student's experience will be different, of course, but these are some things that have made Tufts stand out in the past.
