When do colleges send financial aid packages?

I'm a bit worried about how to pay for college. Can anyone tell me when colleges usually send out their financial aid packages? And do they come with the acceptance letters or later on?

It's completely normal to be concerned about paying for college, and understanding when you'll receive your financial aid package can help alleviate some of that worry.

Typically, colleges send financial aid award letters around the same time as acceptance letters, meaning that if you applied Regular Decision, you'll receive both in the spring, often between February and April. On the other hand, if you have applied early to a school (Early Decision or Early Action), you may receive your financial aid package earlier, possibly between December and February.

Keep in mind that some schools may send the award letter with the acceptance letter, while others might send the two separately within a few weeks of each other. While the exact timeline may vary, on your end you can avoid delays by ensuring you submit all required documents, such as the FAFSA and CSS Profile, on time.

Finally, don't hesitate to reach out to the financial aid office of the colleges you've applied to for more specific information on their timelines and processes. Fingers crossed you'll have some excellent aid packages to choose from!
