What should I know about Rutgers University New Brunswick admissions process?

I'm considering applying to Rutgers - New Brunswick and I'm curious about their admissions process. Are there any unique requirements or timelines I should be aware of? I want to make sure I have all my bases covered before applying.

The admissions process at Rutgers University - New Brunswick is quite straightforward, and similar to other universities. Here's a quick rundown:

Application platform: Rutgers University accepts applications either through the Undergraduate Admissions Application or via the Common Application.

Application Fee: They have an application fee of $70, but fee waivers are available for students who qualify.

Test Scores: As of the last update in 2024, Rutgers operates under a test-optional policy for standardized testing in their admissions process. You can still submit your SAT or ACT scores if you feel it will strongly support your application, but it is not required. I suggest you self-report your scores if you have them, as Rutgers gives you the option to do so on the application itself.

Transcripts: An important aspect of the process is your official high school transcript. This should include details of the courses you've taken, as well as your unweighted GPA.

Essays: While not required, Rutgers New Brunswick strongly recommends submitting an essay. On the application, you can select one of several prompts to respond to. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your personal experience or perspective which is not apparent elsewhere in your application.

Deadlines: Rutgers has an Early Action deadline of November 1, with decisions going out in mid-January. The regular application deadline is December 1, with decisions announced in mid-February.

After you have submitted your application, you will receive a verification email from Rutgers within one week. From there, you will have access to your Rutgers admission profile where you can check the status of your application.

Best of luck and make sure to double check these steps to ensure you don't miss any important parts of the application process!
