Best schools of music around the country?

I'm really into music and am considering majoring in it. Could anyone suggest some of the best schools of music in the U.S.? I'm looking for places that are highly regarded in this field.

Indeed, the United States is home to several highly regarded music schools. Here are a few that consistently rank highly:

1. Juilliard School (New York, NY): Arguably one of the most renowned music schools worldwide, Juilliard offers a rigorous, all-inclusive music program supported by top-tier faculty members.

2. Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA): Known for contemporary, jazz, and popular music, Berklee comes with the reputation of being one of the largest independent colleges of contemporary music in the world.

3. Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY): This is part of the University of Rochester and it's known for tradition and innovation, offering a unique blend of old and new music curriculums.

4. Curtis Institute of Music (Philadelphia, PA): Curtis is one of the most selective colleges in the United States. Its small size provides students with personalized attention from faculty.

5. New England Conservatory of Music (Boston, MA): NEC offers unique programs like Contemporary Improvisation and Jazz which, combined with their strong classical programs, provide a well-rounded musical education.

6. University of Southern California (USC) - Thornton School of Music (Los Angeles, CA): For those looking towards the music industry, film scoring, or music production, USC Thornton offers several unique programs.

7. Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Oberlin, OH): Aside from traditional programs, Oberlin also boasts programs like Technology in Music and Related Arts (TIMARA), and a Baroque Performance Institute.

8. Indiana University - Jacobs School of Music (Bloomington, IN): This school offers a wide range of programs and has one of the largest music libraries in the world.

Remember, your choice should be influenced by the specific program or facet of music you're interested in. For instance, if you're passionate about contemporary music, Berklee might suit you better than, say, Eastman which leans more towards a traditional approach. It's important to do thorough research into the specific programs these schools offer to find your best fit.
