I'm looking into Emerson and kind of want to know what the campus environment is like. Do most students live on campus, or is it more of a commuter school? Trying to figure out if it's a good fit.
Emerson College, located in the heart of downtown Boston, has a unique campus vibe and is predominantly a residential campus. About 4,100 students, comprising freshmen and many upperclassmen, live in the college's residence halls. So, it's not a commuter school.
The campus is quite lively and vibrant, thanks to its location in one of the busiest parts of the city. The entire city essentially becomes an extension of the campus, providing students with cultural, historical, and recreational opportunities.
The student body at Emerson is a community of creative thinkers, filled with individuals passionately involved in arts and communication. Emerson is known for its outstanding programs in areas like film, theatre, marketing, journalism, and writing, which tend to attract a very distinct, creativity-oriented student body.
Active involvement in extracurricular activities is a big part of the social scene. With many student groups, clubs, and organizations that span a wide range of interests, there is always something happening on and around campus.
Finally, while Emerson College is located in a big city, the administration and student community work together to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment. It's a place where students can grow personally and professionally while exploring their creative interests and ambitions. Keep in mind, though, that the best way to see if a school is a good fit for you is to visit (if possible) or connect with current students or alumni. They can give you firsthand insights into what it's truly like to be a part of the Emerson community. You can schedule an in-person tour of Emerson here: https://admissions.emerson.edu/portal/visit. There are also webinars and virtual tours available on the Emerson website.
