Information on Getting an Accounting Degree in New York?

I'm really interested in accounting and considering schools in New York. Does anyone know which universities offer good accounting degrees, and what the job market is like in NYC for accountants? Any tips on programs worth checking out?

New York is an excellent place to pursue an accounting degree due to its deep connections to finance and the high volume of businesses operating within the state. There are several universities there that offer compelling programs in accounting.

One of them is New York University's Stern School of Business. NYU Stern offers an Accounting major, as well as an option to major in Business and Political Economy, with a track in Accounting. The school boasts strong connections with the NYC business community, offering ample opportunities for internships and networking.

Upstate, Cornell University also has a well-regarded undergraduate business program with an emphasis in accounting at their Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. This could be a good option if you're also interested in the intersection of business and agriculture, environmental, and social issues.

Fordham University in the Bronx also offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Accounting. This program is registered with the New York State Education Department for those planning to sit for the CPA exam.

As for the job market, New York City is a great place for accounting professionals. With its status as a global center for finance and home to many multinational corporations, there is a constant demand for accounting services here. Furthermore, many top accounting firms, including Deloitte and KPMG, have large offices in the city, providing ample job opportunities.

Keep in mind that a successful accounting career may require passing the CPA Exam, so consider programs with solid CPA prep curriculum or strong pass rates. Life in New York does come with a higher cost of living, so it's a good idea to research scholarship opportunities and compare financial aid packages as you decide on a program.
